It is December 1941. World War II has become a truly global conflict with Japan attacking the American fleet in Pearl Harbour. The Luftwaffe are bombing English cities and the Nazis are about to launch their super battleship Tirpitz. With the tireless Winston Churchill as his boss, Colonel Julian Bonham-Johns from the Special Operations Executive is under pressure. As a ruthless foreign agent is making his way through the south west of England it becomes clear that a sinister Nazi plot is unfolding. In a bid to stay ahead of the enemy Bonham-Johns must mastermind a plan with the Allies and intercept the agent. It's a race against time to navigate tensions and egos while feeding lies and misinformation to the enemy. But all is not as it seems. Home Guard sergeant Bert Chenoweth hoped to live out his days in the beautiful Cornish fishing village of Porthcurno. He never reckoned on having to do battle again, but then he never reckoned on this kind of threat on his doorstep. Will he find it in himself to fight one last time for the things he holds dear? As the end game approaches, the enemies clash, head-to-head at Porthcurno Telegraph Station in a thrilling, violent and unexpected conclusion.

Break in Communication is a great period read - takes the reader back to the middle of WW2 and what life was like. Weaving the plot around what was really going on in the middle of the war was exciting. I'm looking forward to the next book from this author.Product details

Break in Communication Raid on Porthcurno Telegraph Station Cornwall during WWII edition by Jon Gliddon Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Good story very believable no superheroes . Enjoyed the many twists and turns.
Thougt the portrayal of sir Winston Churchill fit what I have heard of him.
Very fast paced novel, with lots of military and historical details, which left me wishing I knew more about it, or I was given more information in the book. However, hang in there, because the second part of the book delivers all the surprises, twists and turns that you could imagine, a real page turner! Lovely characters, really fascinating part of WW2 history, great story line and very enjoyable book!
Jon Gliddon's carefully constructed Break in Communication blends history and the perils of war to create a rich and intriguing read. His writing talents give you a tingling spy thriller that you won't want to put down. This fast paced and mysterious novel leaves you waiting for Jon's next intelligent adventure. Highly recommended five-star read.
A strange man makes his way across country, suspicion and intrigue following him everywhere he goes as he turns up his collar and pulls down his black fedora hat... meanwhile... well there are a lot of meanwhiles and I won't spoil the story by listing them all but there is a lot going on here. It's mid-WWII and the war is hotting up. Churchill is under pressure, the Nazis have taken France, the battle at sea is leaving warship after warship on the sea bed. Communications, encryption, decoding are more important than ever. Family life is disrupted in a small fishing village in Cornwall.
Phew! This is a gripping and fast-paced thriller full of historical and military detail. It is based in historical fact which is what brought me to it - the history of how Porthcurno became a communications base which Britain relied on to keep in touch with the world in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It's an interesting history, brought to life by visiting the museum there now. I've visited both Porthcurno and Bletchley, but the reality is brought to life much more at Porthcurno, I think because the original buildings are cut into the cliffs deep underground, and you can feel the fear and vulnerability of the station stuck out at the far end of Cornwall.
Anyway, this is a spy thriller which packs a punch, good characterisation, depth and an intriguing story. It reads like a screenplay, and I can imagine it as a film very well. Churchill also features, and the research on WWII history is meticulous. A good fast read, highly recommended.

This is a WW2 espionage novel. The plot involves much more than the raid stated in the title. The story is just OK but it’s not particularly well told. It’s full of a lot of complicated twists and other bits and pieces that are uninteresting and hard to follow. There are numerous technical inaccuracies and other inconsistencies. It’s apparent that the author lacks a good knowledge of WW 2 warfare and spying. Parts of the plot were very unrealistic particularly the German Commando raid on the telegraph station. I did finish and can’t say I hated it, but I’m a long way from saying I liked it. Two and half stars. The extra half star is because it’s fairly well written.
Bad language. Ends with the story incomplete. One is left hanging, what happened? Also I thought it was non fiction & was disappointed to find out it was a novel.
Break in Communication is a great period read - takes the reader back to the middle of WW2 and what life was like. Weaving the plot around what was really going on in the middle of the war was exciting. I'm looking forward to the next book from this author.
